Frequently Asked Questions

About Potential U

  • Who can take part in your programmes?

We work with students aged 14-24, parents looking for purposeful education, and schools or groups seeking innovative learning experiences.

  • What makes PotentialU different?

Instead of memorising for grades, learners at PotentialU work on hands-on projects and experiences that show real capability – the kind employers and entrepreneurs value most.

  • Why was PotentialU created?

We believe education should do more than prepare students for tests. Our mission is to prepare them for life – helping them develop future skills like problem-solving, creativity, digital literacy, and real-world confidence. We think from the perspective of “What do employers value?” and “What will make a difference in an ever changing world?”.

  • What is PotentialU Education?

PotentialU helps young people build skills that outlast change – empowering them to think, create, and grow through practical, future-focused learning experiences. I think everyone is in agreement, all young people deserve and need the opportunity to learn life skills that make a difference

What We Teach

  • Can schools or organisations host these courses?

Yes – we regularly deliver sessions in schools, colleges, and youth settings, adapting content to fit specific learning goals and timeframes. We offer many Free and paid options.

  • Are courses suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Our sessions are open to all ability levels, from curious beginners to ambitious young innovators. We assume most if not all young people have not accessed this type of learning through their education. However it is much easier for us to tailor learning as we don’t prescribe one size fits all tests!

  • Do students get something to show for their learning?

Yes. Learners build projects, digital portfolios, and evidence of skills that can be shared with employers, schools, or universities – demonstrating real capability beyond exam results. This is proof of learning and allows a young person to reference actual results and experience. Experience which is chronically lacking for all young people! (We all know the catch-22 of needing experience for a job, but needing a job to get experience – we hope to solve this!)

  • How do students learn these skills?

Through interactive workshops, structured courses, and projects that connect theory to real-life application — not meaningless tests or excessive rote learning. Employers care about proof, which can be showcased through projects!

  • What do you teach at PotentialU?

Our courses and workshops focus on practical, future-ready learning and skill development, delivered through four key real world themed areas:

    • Entrepreneurship & Business Simulation – run your own virtual company, make business decisions, and learn how real businesses work. Students can start building their network, connecting with experienced professionals and developing their own ideas.
    • Media Literacy – understand digital media, storytelling, and how information shapes our world. Every young person should be equipped with the skills to navigate the excess of information and media in our world.
    • Financial Literacy – learn money management, budgeting, and real-life financial decision-making. Money skills are crucial for all and should be learned from a young age!
    • Technology & Coding – explore programming, AI, cybersecurity, and creative computing. The world continues to move in a direction of tech, we want to ensure young people can stay ahead of the game!
    • LinkedIn, Employability & Personal Branding – build a standout online presence, develop networking skills, and prepare for real-world opportunities.

Why We Teach

  • Is this a replacement for traditional academic education?

Not at all – it’s an evolution. We complement schools by offering engaging, purpose-driven learning that connects directly to the real world. There is value in all learning, and academic education holds it place and value, the problem is there are many educational experiences essential for young people to be provided with, but currently not provided through mainstream education. Such as Money skills, soft skills and evolving tech skills.

  • What kind of outcomes do students achieve?

Learners leave our programmes with practical understanding, stronger confidence, and a clear sense of direction – plus tangible evidence of their learning to show employers or educators. We also want to offer the opportunity to progress learning, and take the next step where possible, for example those enrolled to our entrepreneurship course are able to progress to starting their own businesses and launching with our support. Regardless, the skills they learn with us are skills for life.

  • How does PotentialU prepare students for the future?

By blending education and experience. We teach students to apply what they learn through projects, collaboration, and reflection – developing the mindset needed for work, entrepreneurship, and life. This also allows for proof of learning, practical experiences to reference and reflect on and the opportunity to apply theory. The courses we deliver are all based on topics that relate to real life.

  • Why do you focus on future skills?

Because success today and in the future isn’t about memorising information – it’s about applying knowledge, solving problems, and thinking creatively. Our goal is to prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of the future. It is not safe to simply rely on grades and qualifications to stand out, succeed and earn opportunities. Students must be taught how to take ownership of their future.

The world is changing faster than ever, so we must provide the opportunity for young people to learn the skills that will make a real difference in their lives not just today, but 10, 20, 30 years+ in the future.

Future success depends on developing skills beyond academics. We must encourage young people to ask, “What will make me stand out for a job?” and “What do employers truly value?”. If everyone has the same qualifications, why would an employer hire you? We believe skills such as communication, adaptability, leadership and other “soft skills” will make the difference. They will allow employers to hire the right people but also young people to find roles that really suit them. Win-Win.

But it’s not just employment, it’s all aspects of life where these skills make a difference, to succeed and thrive in an everchanging world, it is crucial to develop skills that outlast change.
